Electronic Arts has confirmed staff reductions but has not disclosed the exact number of employees affected by this measure. A representative for EA stated to IGN, 'Our business is in a constant state of evolution as we strive to create amazing games and services, sometimes necessitating organizational changes to align our teams and resources with evolving business needs and priorities.'

This move comes amidst the company's strategic development following its acquisition of Codemasters for $1.2 billion in early 2021. This acquisition brought EA licenses for F1 and the FIA World Rally Championship, along with IP addresses such as Grid, Dirt, Project Cars, and franchises like Need for Speed and Burnout.

EA has conducted a round of layoffs at Codemasters, the developer behind the Formula 1 game 1

EA had previously restructured its studios, establishing two entities: EA Sports and EA Entertainment, subsequently moving Criterion from the former to the latter to work on the Battlefield franchise. The publisher confirmed that Criterion Studios will continue the development of the Need for Speed series under the leadership of Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn, who currently oversees studios responsible for Apex Legends, Star Wars, and Battlefield.

The company pledges to provide support to employees affected by these layoffs throughout this process.
