Hidden Secrets of Starfield Unveiled: Is Bethesda's Latest RPG Hiding a Dead Space Easter Egg?

Ця стаття доступна наступними мовами

Some Starfield players are convinced that they've stumbled upon a hidden Dead Space Easter egg within Bethesda's highly anticipated RPG. While the official release of Starfield is slated for September 6, eager fans have been exploring the game since September 1 by acquiring one of its premium editions for early access.

Bethesda, known for crafting expansive open-world games, has a history of sprinkling their creations with references to their inspirations and favorite media. Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, along with other Bethesda RPGs, were teeming with such Easter eggs.

In the case of Starfield, it appears to continue this tradition, possibly marking Bethesda's first venture into incorporating a Dead Space Easter egg. Players have taken to online forums to discuss a sculpture located in New Atlantis that bears an uncanny resemblance to the Marker monoliths from EA's acclaimed survival horror series, Dead Space. Although the Starfield sculpture is constructed from metal rather than organic materials, its double-helix design mirrors the extraterrestrial obelisks from Dead Space so closely that fans speculate it can't be mere happenstance.

Notably, this potential Dead Space Easter egg isn't concealed in a remote, obscure corner of the game world. It prominently adorns the top of a grand fountain that separates New Atlantis' Spaceport from its shuttle service, a location virtually every player will pass upon arrival in the United Colonies' crown jewel. Positioned at the peak of the port's ramp, it's situated just beyond the UC Security offices where Starfield players embark on various citywide quests.

The Marker-shaped fountain isn't the only in-game detail under scrutiny by the community for being a subtle homage to another media franchise. Some players suspect that Starfield's character creator conceals an Easter egg referencing The Expanse. Additionally, prior to reaching the character creation screen, players are greeted with a close-up view of a medical device that bears a resemblance to the apparatus used for administering baseline tests to Ryan Gosling's character, K, in Blade Runner 2049.

Furthermore, Starfield is not short on direct callbacks to Bethesda's earlier games. For instance, the RPG makes reference to an iconic line from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on multiple occasions. As the game exits early access and reaches a broader audience, more such Easter eggs are likely to surface, adding to the intrigue and excitement surrounding the expansive universe of Starfield.
