Vanetica is being given away for free on the GOG digital store

Vanetica is a 2009 CRPG video game created by Deck13 Interactive and published by dtp entertainment. The game is compared with the first two parts of the legendary Gothic series.

Death in this world is an elected position, which is appointed by the decision of the Council and carries out its instructions. A person elected to this post is endowed with great power and acquires supernatural abilities.

This time the Council made a mistake and the post was taken by the necromancer Victor, who decided to use the newfound opportunities to achieve his dark and mystical goals. The Council was unable to oppose anything to Victor and turned to Scarlett for help - the daughter of the previous person in the position of "death", who inherited some of her father's abilities.

The game takes place on the streets of medieval Venice.

Scarlett - the main character, the adopted daughter of an ordinary weaver, the real father is Death, so Scarlett received some abilities from her father.

On metacritic, the game has a score of 6.8 from users, and on the Steam play store it has a 78% positive feedback. Users praise the game for its good storyline, well-developed open world with its picturesque landscapes, and not the worst combat system. The disadvantages are: sometimes a very problematic camera behind the character, linearity in many aspects, as well as problems with launching on modern devices.
