Notably, the design of the Joy-Con controllers in this edition replicates the design from a previous limited edition Nintendo Switch console for Super Smash Bros, released five years ago. That limited edition, launched on November 16, 2018, featured Joy-Con controllers adorned with Super Smash Bros symbols and a dock adorned with various characters from the game.
In this new edition, the Joy-Con controller design remains the same, while the dock remains unchanged, resembling the standard dock that comes with the Nintendo Switch OLED Neon Blue and Neon Red edition. This is because the Nintendo Switch OLED utilizes a slightly different dock. The redesigned dock is tailored to the OLED console and incorporates an Ethernet port for wired online connections.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate holds the title of the best-selling fighting game of all time, with over 31.77 million copies sold as of June 30, 2023. It also ranks as the third best-selling game for the Nintendo Switch, trailing only behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (55.46 million copies) and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (42.79 million).
