Metroid Prime 4: Breaking the Silence - Insider Hints at Exciting 2024 Reveal!
Game industry insider Jeff Grubb has shared a positive update on the progress of Metroid Prime 4, a title that has remained somewhat mysterious throughout the lifespan of the Nintendo Switch. Initially announced at E3 2017, the game faced a significant setback when it restarted development in 2019, transitioning from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios. Despite nearly five years passing since this reset, Nintendo has provided minimal updates on the status of Metroid Prime 4.
Despite the lack of concrete information, it's confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 is actively in development. The game was mentioned in a recent Nintendo financial report alongside other exclusive titles like Princess Peach: Showtime and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. However, no specific release window for Metroid Prime 4 was mentioned. Nonetheless, gaming industry insider Jeff Grubb has hinted that there might be a reveal this year, breaking the prolonged silence.

Grubb first brought up this possibility during a Giant Bomb reaction stream for the February 2024 Nintendo Partner Direct.
This Direct showcased various third-party titles, including Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance and Unicorn Overlord. Among the announcements was a remake of Epic Mickey, a game Grubb had heard about before its official reveal. Grubb expressed confidence that fans might receive more information about Metroid Prime 4 in 2024, as both Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and the Metroid rumors came from the same source.
To address any potential confusion, Grubb took to Twitter to share additional details and clarify the information he received regarding the release date of Metroid Prime 4. According to Grubb, he learned that Nintendo aimed to acquire assets by May 2024, speculating that these assets might be used for two potential trailers – one being a CG trailer and the other a gameplay trailer. However, he emphasized that plans could have changed since he last received this information, and merely having assets ready by May does not guarantee a specific event or release.
When asked about the status of a potential Metroid Prime 2 remaster, Grubb confirmed its completion but mentioned it's not in a hurry to be released and is currently "lying in wait." Despite these positive signs, Grubb advises fans to approach his claims with caution and manage expectations. Plans might have shifted since his last update, and there's no guarantee that Metroid Prime 4 will be revealed in any capacity this year.
