Genshin Impact Reveals Darker Secrets for New Characters Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet in Updated Splash Art

Genshin Impact has unveiled intriguing alterations to the splash art of its three latest characters: Lyney, Lynette and Freminet. Lyney and Lynette, the sibling duo, currently grace the Limited Character Banner, set to expire on September 5, giving players limited time to acquire them.

The third character, Freminet, has made multiple in-game appearances but has yet to officially join the playable roster. He is slated to be a four-star character, with his release scheduled for the latter part of Genshin Impact version 4.0.

Lyney, Lynette and Freminet have all played pivotal roles in the ongoing Fontaine storyline introduced in Genshin Impact update 4.0. Despite their initially friendly and charming introductions, recent story developments have unveiled a dark secret about them. In a recent Fontaine trial, the Hydro Archon Furina disclosed that all three characters originated from the House of Hearts, a renowned orphanage operated by the Fatui organization, one of the main antagonist factions in Genshin Impact.

Following this revelation, HoYoverse released new introduction bios for all three characters, and fans have detected some intriguing changes. A Reddit user named Poloroger_582 shared an image highlighting the disparities between the old and new splash arts.

This marks the first time that HoYoverse has reintroduced its characters after the storyline unveiled their much darker history than anticipated. The primary distinction in the new splash art sets is the notably sadder facial expressions of all three characters. Many fans had harbored suspicions about the trio, especially after Lyney and Lynette were shown alongside the Harbinger Arlecchino in a previous Fontaine teaser.

Rumors suggest that Lynette, among other orphans, was rescued from captivity by Arlecchino. The official storyline had previously confirmed that this Harbinger oversees the House of Hearts orphanage and hails from the Hydro nation, potentially explaining her role as a primary antagonist in this Archon Quest.

Nonetheless, a substantial portion of the community still holds out hope for Lynette's redemption, which could pave the way for Arlecchino's inclusion as a playable character in the future. Such a development would not be unprecedented, as HoYoverse has already transformed two Harbingers, Tartaglia and the Wanderer, into playable characters.
