Overwatch 2 Season 7 Meta: A Comprehensive Analysis of Hero Rankings and Changes
The patch notes for Overwatch 2 Season 7 have been released, and although the hero meta in Overwatch 2 hasn't undergone significant changes in recent months, there have been notable shifts. Heroes who were previously considered weak choices have now become viable, while others have lost some of their appeal. It's important to note that these standings may change with the mid-season patch.
S-Tier
- Orisa
- D.Va
- Bastion
- Torbjorn
- Mei
- Hanzo
- Illari
- Ana
- Kiriko
Orisa has remained a dominant pick for several months, and even with a 5% decrease in Fortify's damage reduction, she continues to perform exceptionally well. Her ability to efficiently cycle her cooldowns makes her incredibly tanky, often likened to a raid boss. D.Va is challenging to eliminate, thanks to her Defense Matrix, and remains a consistent choice on most maps.

DPS heroes like Bastion and Torbjorn have maintained their strong positions in the meta due to their high damage output and substantial health pools. Mei remains viable despite the removal of Deep Chill, offering utility against squishy heroes. Hanzo, while briefly removed from Competitive Play due to a bug, is still a practical choice due to his one-shot potential, Sonic Arrow, and consistent damage output.
Supports like Ana, Kiriko, and Illari are top-tier. Ana's anti-heal and Sleep Dart can be game-changing, while Kiriko's protection suzu and teleportation remain strong. Although Illari's secondary healing output has been slightly reduced, she's still chosen for her damage output.
A-Tier
- Ramattra
- Junker Queen
- Zarya
- Soldier: 76
- Sojourn
- Genji
- Echo
- Lucio
- Baptiste
A-tier heroes perform well in various compositions. Ramattra's one-second increase to his Nemesis cooldown ability is a significant improvement. Zarya excels as a counter to Orisa's damage and javelin.
Junker Queen's strength lies in close-ranged combat due to her Commanding Shout and Jagged Blade, particularly when paired with Lucio's speed boost or a damage-dealing Support like Baptiste. Soldier: 76 maintains his position, despite last season's nerfs. Sojourn is often seen as a better version of Soldier: 76 due to her slide but lacks the healing provided by Biotic Field. The consistent damage output from Sojourn, Echo, and Soldier: 76 can be deadly in skilled hands. Genji, with his burst damage and mobility, remains a valuable choice, especially when combining Nano Blade.
B-Tier
- Winston
- Doomfist
- Sigma
- Sombra
- Tracer
- Widowmaker
- Ashe
- Cassidy
- Junkrat
- Moira
- Lifeweaver
- Brigitte
B-tier heroes are generally good in most metas but perform best when played by specialists. Sigma has been a consistent tank pick across seasons, while Winston and Doomfist's positions have been less stable.
Sombra's rework in Season 7 has generated mixed responses, affecting her playstyle. Other DPS heroes like Tracer, Widowmaker, Ashe, and Junkrat have found their place in the B-Tier. Cassidy, after several seasons of being less popular, has joined them. Moira, Lifeweaver, and Brigitte remain reasonable choices, even though Brigitte's pick rate has seen a significant drop.
C-Tier
- Wrecking Ball
- Reinhardt
- Pharah
- Symmetra
- Mercy
- Zenyatta
C-tier heroes are situationally effective, and their performance varies depending on the circumstances. Unfortunately, Wrecking Ball and Reinhardt are not in a strong position right now. Symmetra is still a good choice, particularly on close-quarters maps.
Pharah remains a viable hero in the hands of skilled players but often requires a Mercy pocket (Pharmercy) to reach her full potential. Mercy is most effective when supporting a damage-focused hero, making it challenging for her to shine on her own. Zenyatta is in a peculiar position, as his damage orb is excellent for taking down tanks, but his lack of mobility can be a drawback, particularly against dive compositions and snipers.
D-Tier
- Roadhog
- Reaper
Roadhog is expected to receive a rework with the mid-season patch, offering tank players hope for improved performance. Unfortunately, Reaper's slower damage output compared to other heroes like Mei and Bastion has limited his role, primarily in countering Winston.
