Overwatch 2Blizzard has revealed a groundbreaking, exclusive partnership with esports giant ESL FACEIT Group to spearhead Overwatch 2esports events, following the conclusion of the Overwatch League. The Overwatch League, spanning from 2017 to 2023, witnessed memorable victories from teams like London Spitfire, San Francisco Shock, Shanghai Dragons, Dallas Fuel, and Florida Mayhem. Despite the league's closure, Blizzard is committed to elevating Overwatch 2 esports to new heights.
The collaborative effort between Blizzard and ESL FACEIT Group introduces the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS), a dynamic esports circuit described as "open, always-on, and global." Players from North America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia will have the opportunity to engage in the OWCS, featuring qualifiers and tournaments leading up to two live, international events. The inaugural tournaments are set for 2024, starting with the DreamHack Dallas Major double-elimination tournament from May 31 to June 2, where eight Overwatch 2 teams will vie for victory. The climax of the OWCS will be the World Finals tournament in Sweden, taking place at DreamHack Stockholm from November 22 to November 24, where the ultimate champion will be crowned.
