Riot Games has decided to postpone the start of the LCS Summer Split by two weeks. This decision was made in response to a mass strike organized by the Players' Association of the North American League of Legends league.

According to company representatives, a delay of more than two weeks would make it impossible to hold the tournament in the region. If the disagreements cannot be resolved, Riot Games is considering the possibility of canceling the championship and not allowing local teams to participate in Worlds 2023.

The organizers of the LCS hope to reach a compromise with the Players' Association in the near future. It is important to note that teams will not be penalized if they do not announce their roster for the Summer Split within the two-week period.

The decision to strike was made by the LCSPA in response to the abolition of the regional amateur league. Under the new rules, organizations now have the option to forgo fielding their academy teams in order to reduce operational costs.

Representatives of the LCSPA have criticized Riot Games' decision, emphasizing that many esports athletes have made it to the LCS through the amateur league. Therefore, the abolition of this level could have a negative impact on the professional scene. A vote was held within the association, with 50 players participating.
