Riot Games will rework Aurelion Sol in patch 13.3

League of Legends developer Riot Games has announced a massive rework of the character Aurelion Sol. The space dragon will receive a modified set of skills, and only the model, color scheme and voice acting will remain from the former Aurelion Sol.

Aurelia Sol's New Abilities

Apparently, Riot decided to give Aurelia more freedom of action thanks to the[W]Space Flight, which adds mobility to the champion. In addition, the champion will gain the ability to scale thanks to the new Universal Creator passive skill.

Damage-dealing abilities grant Aurelion Stellar Materia, which enhances the rest of the champion's skills.

Breath of the Sun -[Q]

For a few seconds, Aurelion Sol breathes fire in the direction of the cursor, dealing damage to the first enemy hit and less damage to other nearby enemies. Each time the target is hit by fire for 1 second in total, an explosion occurs that deals additional damage. Explosions that affect enemy champions grant Solar Materia.

Breath of the Sun deals more damage to champions. The range depends on the level of Aurelion Sol.

Star Matter increases explosion damage.

Spaceflight -[W]

Aurelion Sol flies to the target location through the terrain. At the same time, it is visible to nearby enemies even from the fog of war. While flying, Aurelion Sol can use other skills. In addition, during this time, Breath of the Sun can be used indefinitely and deals additional damage.

Spaceflight's remaining cooldown is reduced when an enemy champion dies that was recently damaged by Aurelion Sol.

Stellar Matter increases the maximum cast range of the ability.

Singularity -[E]

Aurelion Sol creates a black hole for a few seconds that damages enemies and slowly pulls them towards its center. The Singularity yields Stellar Matter for every second it has enemy champions in it. Enemies in the center of the black hole die when they fall below a certain percentage of health. In doing so, Aurelion Sol gains stellar matter, the amount of which depends on the type of enemy killed. The stellar matter increases the size of the black hole (including the area in the center) and increases the execution threshold.

Ultimate Ability -[R]

Falling Star. A star falls to the ground, dealing magic damage to enemies hit and stunning them. Aurelion Sol gains Star Materia for each enemy champion hit.

Star Matter increases the skill's area of effect. When Aurelion Sol reaches 75 Stellar Matter, his next Shooting Star becomes Skyfall.

The collapse of heaven. Aurelion Sol unleashes a huge star on the ground with a greatly increased area of effect. It deals more damage and knocks up enemies instead of stunning. A shockwave then spreads out from the area, damaging and slowing the affected champions.

Aurelion Sol's rework didn't happen out of nowhere. The champion is clearly going through hard times, not fitting into the meta and losing to virtually all competitors on the lane.

In Western Europe, the character has a ridiculous pick rate - Aurelion Sol appeared in Platinum+ rank matches in total 471 times. Such a sample is too small to analyze the win rate or determine the tier for the champion according to the analytical service op.gg, but it definitely gives an idea of the deplorable state of the Star Maker.

Aurelia changes will happen in the 13.3 cycle, but when Riot plans to release the patch is unknown. So far, the company has announced a special event, Season 2023 Kickoff, where professional players from 9 regions will play. In addition, a new ranked split will begin this Tuesday in the League of Legends.
