On the night of November 16, Riot Games released patch 12.22 in the League of Legends client. MOBA developers have significantly reworked many aspects of the game. So significant that it was difficult to fit all the innovations in one note.

Champion Changes

A total of 4 champions were changed in patch 12.22. Riot improved Cho'gath, Lillia and Nunu. Changed the design of Rakana

Cho'gath

Improvement touched Cho'gath due to changes in the mechanics of Smite. Devour's ultimate ability[R]partially had the properties of Smite, and therefore Riot decided to balance it by increasing its damage.

Devour[R]

  • Damage to non-champions: 1000 (+50% ability power) (+10% bonus health) ⇒ 1200 (+50% ability power) (+10% bonus health)

Lilly

The character received a monumental rework, although at first glance it may seem otherwise. Now the hero attacks in melee, which entailed the corresponding changes in the passive ability of the Staff of Dreams and characteristics.

Main characteristics
  • Basic Attacks: Ranged ⇒ Melee
  • Health: 625 ⇒ 605
  • Health Growth: 104 ⇒ 105

Dream Staff (Passive)

  • Healing against champions: 10.5 - 124.5 (based on level) (+18% ability power) (note: increases linearly) ⇒ 6 - 120 (based on level) (+18% ability power)) (note: now uses stat gain multiplier)

Nunu

The changes affected Nunu for the same reason as Cho'gath. Riot doesn't want to abandon the built-in devour mechanic that was affected by the Smite change, so they are buffing the Consume ability[Q]

Consume[Q]

  • Pure Damage to All but Champions: 340/500/660/820/980 ⇒ 400/600/800/1000/1200

Rakan

Like Lilia, the hero now has melee attacks.

  • Basic Attacks: Ranged ⇒ Melee

General Character Changes

In addition to the four with separate changes, the processing also affected all the other inhabitants of the Gorge of Summoners. Basically, this was done guided by “aesthetics”.

  • Base Attack Damage, Health, Mana, Magic Resistance, Mana Growth: Rounded to the nearest whole number
  • Base Attack Damage Growth, Mana Recovery Growth, Mana Recovery Growth: Rounded to the nearest 0.05
  • Base Attack Speed Gain: Rounded to the nearest 0.005

Smite Changes

Since some of the characters were affected due to changes in punishment, it would be nice to talk about these same changes. They are not the most global, but certainly important. Most importantly, the damage now depends on the number of charges accumulated with the help of a companion.

  • Smite Damage: 450 (Basic Smite)/900 (Calling Smite and Chilling Smite) ⇒ 600/900/1200 (at 0/20/40 Companion Charges)
  • Names (updated): Smite/Challenging Smite/Chilling Smite ⇒ Smite/Empowered Smite/Primal Smite

Item Changes

Along with the champions, the changes also affected the items. They hit things that are classically suitable for tanks, but there is an explanation for this.

By changing some of the mythic items that were supposed to be the basis of the build, Riot wants to encourage a variety of playstyles.

Building a mythic item isn't always a good idea, so they've been reimagined.

In addition, Riot wants to make tanks, real tanks. Often items that have been altered have been used to hybrid build and often transition to damage.

In addition, new items were added, again for tanks.

Jak'Sho the Many Faced

  • Cost: 3000
  • Health: 400
  • Armor: 30
  • Magic Resistance: 30

  • Passive - Void Ward: Gain a charge every second against champions that increases Armor and Magic Resist by 2. When you reach the maximum number of charges (8), you become empowered and instantly drain 3% of your maximum health from surrounding enemies (if the enemies are minions and monsters, the effectiveness is reduced to 30%). At the same time, the increase in defensive indicators increases by 10% until the end of the battle.
  • Mythic Passive: All other Legendary items grant 5 Armor and 5 Magic Resistance.

Shining Virtue

  • Cost: 3000
  • Health: 400
  • Armor: 30
  • Magic Resistance: 30
  • Skill Boost: 20
  • Recipe: Aegis of the Legion + Flamestone + Ruby Crystal
  • Passive - Guiding Light: When you use an ult, you become enlightened, increasing your maximum health by 10% for 9 seconds. While the effect is active, you and allies within 1200 range gain 15 non-ultimate haste and heal for 1% of your maximum health every 3 seconds. Healing is increased by up to 100% based on missing health. Cooldown - 60 seconds.
  • Mythic Passive: All other Legendary items grant 100 Health.

Heart of steel

  • Cost: 3200
  • Health: 800
  • Health Recovery: 200%
  • Skill Boost: 20
  • Recipe: Firestone + Crystal Bracers + Giant's Belt
  • Passive - Colossal Absorption: After 3 seconds of channeling, you unleash a powerful attack against a champion within 700 range. This attack deals additional Physical Damage equal to 125 + 6% of your Max Health and permanently increases your Max Health by 10% of that value. Cooldown - 30 seconds for each target.
  • Mythic Passive: All other Legendary items grant 1% bonus Health and increase Champion Size by 6%.

Coldborn Gauntlet (previously Frostfire Gauntlet)

  • Cost: 2800 ⇒ 3000
  • Health: 450 ⇒ 400
  • Armor: 25 ⇒ 50
  • Magic Resist: 25 ⇒ 0
  • Skill Boost: 20 (unchanged)
  • Recipe: Bami Ash + Anti-Magic Robe + Cloth Armor ⇒ Radiance + Firestone + Mail
  • Passive - Arcane Blade: Your next auto-attack after casting a skill deals an additional 100% of base attack damage as Physical damage and creates a field of ice for 2.5 seconds. Enemies entering the field are slowed by 15% + 0.004% bonus health (halved for ranged champions). Your primary target is weakened: its slow is increased by 100% and it deals 10% less damage to you for 2.5 seconds. Cooldown - 1.5 seconds.
  • Mythic Passive: All other Legendary items grant 50 Health, 5% Tenacity, and 5% Slow Resistance.

Wand of Ages

  • Cost: 3200
  • Ability Power: 60
  • Health: 300
  • Mana: 400
  • Recipe: Aeon Catalyst + Blasting Wand + Amplifying Tome
  • Passive: Gain 20 health, 20 mana and 4 ability power every minute. The bonuses stack up to 10 times for a total of 200 health, 200 mana, and 40 ability power. When you reach the maximum number of charges, you level up by 1 and all Eternity effects are increased by 50%. Please note: the maximum level remains the 18th.
  • (Unique) Passive - Eternity: Restores mana equal to 8% of damage taken from champions before applying defensive stats. Restores health in the amount of 20% of the spent mana (no more than 15 per use of the skill). Toggle skills restore no more than 15 health per second. For every 250 health or mana restored this way, increases your movement speed by 25% (decreases over 2 seconds).
  • Mythic Passive: All other Legendary items grant 5 Skill Haste.

Aeon Catalyst

  • Cost: 1100
  • Health: 225
  • Mana: 300
  • Recipe: Ruby Crystal + Sapphire Crystal
  • (Unique) Passive - Eternity: Restores mana equal to 8% of damage taken from champions before applying defensive stats. Restores health in the amount of 20% of the spent mana (no more than 15 per use of the skill). Toggle skills restore no more than 15 health per second.

Omen of Randuin

  • Cost: 2700 ⇒ 3000
  • Health: 250 ⇒ 400
  • Armor: 90 ⇒ 60
  • Skill Haste: 10 ⇒ 0
  • Recipe: Guardian Armor + Cloth Armor + Ruby Crystal ⇒ Guardian Armor + Giant's Belt
  • Active - Humility: Slows nearby enemies by 55% for 2 seconds. Cooldown - 60 seconds.
  • Passive - Critical Fortitude: Your critical hits deal 20% less damage to you.
  • Passive - Hardness of the Rock: Reduces damage taken from Basic Attacks by up to 5 + 0.35%. The total reduction cannot exceed 40% of auto attack damage.

Aegis of the Sun Flame

  • Rank: mythical ⇒ legendary
  • Cost: 3200 ⇒ 2800
  • Health: 450 ⇒ 400
  • Armor: 35 ⇒ 50
  • Magic Resist: 35 ⇒ 0
  • Skill Haste: 20 ⇒ 0
  • Recipe: Bami Ash + Aegis of the Legion ⇒ Bami Ash + Mail
  • Passive - Obliterate: The effect's damage is no longer increased by 150% against monsters.

Reactive chemical armor

  • Rank: mythical ⇒ legendary
  • Cost: 3200 ⇒ 2800

  • Magic Resist: 25 ⇒ 50
  • Armor: 25 ⇒ 0
  • Skill Haste: 20 ⇒ 10

Ravenous Hydra

  • Attack Damage: 70 ⇒ 65
  • (Unique) Passive - Cleave: Deals 60-12% total attack damage (based on range) ⇒ 60% total attack damage for melee champions and 30% total attack damage for ranged champions to all nearby enemies
  • (Unique) Passive - Carnivorous: You gain 0.6 attack power and 0.1% all-round life drain when you kill a minion, and 2x more when you kill a champion, large/epic monster, or siege minion. Max Gains: 24 attack power and 4% all-round life drain. When you die, you lose half your charges.

Spear of Shojin

  • Cost: 3400
  • Attack Power: 65
  • Health: 300
  • Skill Boost: 20
  • (Unique) Passive - Strength of the Dragon: Increases non-ultimate skill haste by[8 (+8% of base attack damage) for melee champions {{6 (+6% Base Attack Damage) on Ranged Champions]. If the skill rootes, the gain is reduced to[4 (+4% of base attack damage) for melee champions {{3 (+3% Base Attack Damage) on Ranged Champions].
  • (Unique) Passive - Haste: Increases movement speed by up to based on missing health (maximum effectiveness at 33% health).
  • Recipe: Ultimate Sword + Firestone + Caulfield's War Hammer.
