Riot Games Approves Suspension of Former CEO of G2 Esports for Violating Code of Conduct

Ця стаття доступна наступними мовами

Riot Games has issued an official statement approving the suspension of Carlos Rodriguez, the former CEO of G2 Esports, for violating the code of conduct. The offenses that are attributed to ocelote are set out in the code of conduct section of the LEC rule book. At the same time, Rodriguez left his post in September, taking on all charges of inappropriate behavior. It is noteworthy that a little earlier, a rumor appeared on the network that Riot Games forced ocelote to sell its stake in the G2 Esports organization.

This LEC rulebook, specifically Article 9.2.5, states the following:

Team Managers/Members shall not make, make, publish, authorize or endorse any statement or action that could prejudice the interests of the League, Riot Games or its affiliates, or League of Legends, as determined in their sole and absolute discretion.

According to the results of the investigation, the organizers concluded that by linking Andrew Tate, known for his misogynistic views, with himself, G2 Esports and the LEC on social networks, Carlos Rodriguez was engaged in activities that harmed the interests of the League and Riot Games.

In view of the foregoing, Carlos Rodriguez has been suspended from any leadership or operational position in a team or organization in or participation in Riot Games sanctioned competitions for eight weeks retroactively, effective September 18, 2022, subject to the time for which he has already been removed. In addition, the ocelote will also be required to receive a code of conduct training from an independent third party within 120 days of the decision being made.

Recall that in September, the European esports organization G2 Esports announced the departure of Carlos Rodriguez from the post of CEO of the club. At first, the club removed the ocelote from his post after a scandal broke out, but a few days later he accepted the petition of Rodriguez himself and said goodbye to him.

If rumors are to be believed, the Rodriguez scandal has had a significant impact on the G2 Esports VALORANT team. Following a leaked video of ocelote relaxing with Andrew Tate, the developer has decided not to include the organization as a VCT 2023 partner.
