Official Announcement of Fallout Cosmetics in Fortnite: Chapter 5 Season 3

Epic Games has officially revealed some of the new Fallout cosmetics coming to Fortnite with the imminent launch of Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked. Once the new season goes live, Fortnite players will be able to participate in new events and acquire Fallout-themed skins and gear for a limited time.

The Fallout series is experiencing a resurgence, thanks to the successful premiere of the Fallout series on Prime Video. The new Prime Video series has boosted sales of Fallout 4, and overall interest in the game is high due to the recent next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. While fans were eagerly waiting for the first Fallout 4 next-gen update in April, rumors of a Fortnite and Fallout collaboration began to circulate online. The release of the new TV show helped build anticipation among fans for a potential reveal of the new collaboration, and many suggested that Fallout could be the first collaboration for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3. Confirmation finally arrived on May 17, with the official Fortnite Twitter account revealing new key art and announcing that the Fallout collaboration was coming soon.

A short teaser clip was posted on the Fortnite Twitter account, showcasing new Fallout cosmetics like the Brotherhood of Steel's iconic T-60 Power Armor for the upcoming collaboration. Players will likely be able to purchase the new skin from the Item Shop once Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is live. Multiple variants of the T-60 Power Armor skin were shown in the teaser clip, and one of the characters is seen firing what appears to be rounds from a Laser Rifle, which is one of the Brotherhood of Steel's standard issue weapons in the Fallout series. However, Epic Games did not reveal any other details about the Fallout collaboration just yet.

Examining the Fortnite x Fallout Crossover

The new footage quickly garnered attention from Fallout fans and Fortnite players alike, with many analyzing it for more clues about what's to come in Chapter 5 Season 3. Some users pointed out that one of the weapons being fired in the clip is a combat shotgun from Fallout, while others believe a redesigned combat assault rifle may be featured in the new season as well. If prior leaks are accurate, players can also expect a brand-new vehicle in Fortnite this coming season.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 will begin on May 24 and introduce a post-apocalyptic theme to coincide with the Fallout collaboration. The scheduled downtime for Fortnite is worth noting as well, as players will not be able to access any of the new content from Chapter 5 Season 3 until maintenance is complete.
