Unleash Chaos in Necrofugitive: Black Garden Studios Reveals Intriguing 2D Action Game
Developers at Black Garden Studios have unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming 2D action game, Necrofugitive. Despite being in development since 2019, the game has now entered the Pre-Alpha stage, offering players a glimpse of its distinctive gameplay.
In Necrofugitive, players assume the role of a cultist-rebel who serves the vengeful god of chaos, Skorza. The story revolves around the massacre of Skorza's followers, including the antagonist known as "The Prisoner", by soldiers from a kingdom determined to put an end to the bloodthirsty cult.

The Prisoner possesses a range of shape-shifting abilities reminiscent of the iconic thriller "The Thing" by John Carpenter and other indie games like Carrion. When faced with dire circumstances, The Prisoner can metamorphose into a formidable creature capable of annihilating entire armies.
According to the developers, the enemies in Necrofugitive exhibit dynamic artificial intelligence. They collaborate to thwart the player's progress, with each soldier displaying a unique personality that influences their decisions during combat. Instead of mindlessly charging into battle, soldiers may recognize danger, strategically retreat, set up ambushes, and adhere to the commander's orders.
What sets this game apart is the adversaries' ability to learn from the player's combat tactics. The longer a player engages in battle, the more insight enemies gain into The Prisoner's fighting techniques, enabling them to effectively counter these moves. Consequently, players must employ creativity and a variety of abilities to outsmart their foes.
"Inspired by various medieval crises, we have placed particular emphasis on creating a game with vivid characters, an immersive setting, and gameplay that allows players to experience the thrill of embodying a legendary, uncontrollable monster," note the developers.
As of now, Necrofugitive does not have an official release date. However, interested players can access a free demo of the game on its Steam page. Back in March, Black Garden Studios announced their search for a publisher for the project, but it appears they have not secured one yet.
