Microsoft has officially announced its plans to close the Xbox 360 Store next year
In a recent post on the official Xbox Wire blog, it has been announced that the ability to purchase new games, downloadable content (DLC), and entertainment content from the Xbox 360 store will come to an end on July 29, 2024.
This specifically pertains to the ability to directly purchase content through the Xbox 360 console and from the Xbox 360 Marketplace site.
Безкоштовні дорогоцінні камені, а також щоденні, щотижневі та щомісячні бонуси!
However, this will not impact the ability to purchase backward-compatible Xbox 360 games and DLC from the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S stores, which will continue to remain available.
Microsoft emphasizes that despite the closure of the Xbox 360 store on July 29, 2024, players who continue to use their Xbox 360 consoles after this date will still be able to access all previously purchased Xbox 360 games and DLC.
It is also noted that if players have deleted a game they purchased, they will still have the option to re-download it.
Players will also retain the ability to play these games online (provided the online servers are supported by the publishers) and to save their game progress to the cloud.
Microsoft informs that the Microsoft Movies & TV app will cease to function on the Xbox 360 on the same date, which means that movies and TV shows acquired through this service will no longer be accessible on Xbox 360 consoles after July 29, 2024.
However, these movies and TV shows will remain in the user's library and can still be viewed through the Movies & TV app on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
While numerous backward-compatible Xbox 360 games will continue to be available in the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S stores, the store closure still implies that some digital-only Xbox 360 games that were never made backward compatible will essentially disappear.
