Last month, Sony began accepting pre-orders for the PS5 game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sequel, which is set to be released on October 20, 2023. However, users from certain Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, reported that they were unable to pre-order the game.

Users noticed that the age rating for Spider-Man 2 was removed from the local PlayStation website for these countries, and some places only mention the release date as October 20, with the note "release date to be determined."

The delay is likely due to content censorship to align with local customs and values. Sony has not yet provided an official comment on this matter, and the status of the game's release in the Middle East remains unclear.

Recently, Sony's animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" was banned from screening in the UAE due to non-compliance with local censorship laws, including a scene with a poster dedicated to protecting the lives of transgender people.

Similarly, another PS5 exclusive, Final Fantasy 16, was banned in Saudi Arabia after publisher Square Enix reportedly refused to modify the game according to censorship requirements.

At Comic-Con, an exclusive PS5 Spider-Man 2 bundle was revealed, featuring console and DualSense controller designs inspired by the game.
