Activision Blizzard canceled unannounced World of Warcraft mobile game
Activision Blizzard has partnered with Chinese company NetEase on an unannounced mobile game set in the World of Warcraft universe. However, the game was canceled after 3 years of development.
NetEase recently laid off more than 100 employees working on a project codenamed Neptune. The game was developed in the MMO genre and was supposed to be released on mobile devices. Neptune was conceived not as a direct port of World of Warcraft, but as a spin-off of the most popular series.

This is not the first time Activision Blizzard has worked with NetEase. At the beginning of the summer of this year, a product of their joint development called Diablo Immortal, the mobile part of the most popular franchise, was released. Diablo was noted for its terrible monetization system, as well as the lowest user rating on Metacritic. At the time of writing, the project has a rating of 0.3 points based on 4695 ratings. The game is considered commercially successful.
The reason for the cancellation of the project is called financial disagreements between the companies. Thus, the duration of cooperation between Activision Blizzard and NetEase is in question.
