NFT scam: Minecraft server owners raised over $1,200,000 and disappeared with the money

Recently, Minecraft players fell victim to scammers who sold NFT tokens. They promised buyers of 10,000 coins the opportunity to earn digital currency while playing on the Blockverse MC server, after which it can be sold on various platforms and cashed out.

The cost of each of the 10,000 NFT tokens was the standard 0.05 ETH (~$122 at the time of writing). Buyers for these non-fungible tokens were found very quickly. After the sale started, 10,000 NFTs were sold out in 8 minutes. The administration did not hesitate with its decision and immediately after the end of the sale, they turned off the site from which they conducted sales and the Discord channel of their Minecraft server and disappeared with all the money collected.

The victims of the incident got together and created a separate channel in Discord, in which Kashx appeared, who identified himself as one of the developers of the Minecraft project. He reported that after the server was launched, the administration of the project began to receive repeated death threats and disclosure of their personal information. In this regard, the creators of the server decided to curtail their activities. The same Kashx appeared in another conversation, where he announced the readiness of the developers to transfer the rights to the created Minecraft server to the community, the income from the resale of NFTs to other players. Nevertheless, according to the administration, the money earned is a very fair payment for the work done and the negative received from users who bought 10,000 non-fungible tokens. At the moment, on OpenSea, the main platform for the sale and exchange of NFT tokens on the Etherium blockchain, you can still purchase these tokens. The cheapest of them is worth 0.005 Etherium (~$12), and the total trading volume exceeded 793 Etherium, which is ~$1,950,000 at the time of writing.
