Today, the updated version of matchmaking was added together with the new Dota 2 patch.

Now, players have season ranks that will update each half a year. After the end of each season, players will be given a rank medal in their profiles due to the best achievements in the season.

Totally, there are seven types of medals. Players must earn five stars to move from one level to the next one. Names of medals are Herald, Guardian, Crusader, Archon, Legend, Ancient, and Divine.

Solo and group matches will be considered to achieve new levels of medals. However, players will be able to earn starts to move to a new level faster while playing solo than playing group matches. Players will have a chance to reach the top two rank medals only in solo matches.
