L'Oréal wants to enter the realm of the metaverse

Ця стаття доступна наступними мовами

Representatives of the French company engaged in the production of cosmetics and perfumery, L'oréal, announced their intentions to keep up with the times and begin to conquer the world of the metaverses. This will help them develop branding and attract new customers, as well as strengthen their status among the audience that loves virtual worlds. To achieve their goal, L'oréal plans to release a collection of branded skins that can be used in the Metaverse.

The French company will collaborate with metaverse avatar platform Ready Player Me, according to WWD, citing L'oréal representatives. The collaboration with digital artist Evant Roschette will begin with the release of five branded VR avatar skins. All of these skins will have to come out on the previously mentioned Ready Player Me platform.

L'oréal is not the first cosmetics company to advertise its products in this way. Earlier, the American brand Maybelline New York began to implement a similar idea and has already released five make-up skins in the world of the metaverse.

Camille Croeli has been named L'oréal's chief metaverse and Web 3.0 specialist and commented on the French company's plans as follows:

The approach was not to duplicate a realistic look, but to push the boundaries of creativity to show people things that aren't there in real life.

At the moment, it is not yet known whether L'oréal is going to monetize its digital products or is using a softer strategy to promote the brand. Ready Player Me, where L'oréal skins will be hosted, is not the first time they have partnered with a major fashion company. Previously, the digital platform has collaborated with clothing manufacturers such as Pull & Bear and New Balance.

Ready Player Me was able to raise about $13,000,000 in an investment round held at the end of last year. Thanks to this, the digital platform has been able to gain a lot of popularity and cooperate with some large companies that want to enter the world of the metaverse to promote the brand. Ready Player Me already has New Balance, L'oréal, Pull&Bear on its account and, apparently, the site is not going to stop there.

While many companies, including L'oréal, Renault and others, enter the world of the metaverse and join the audience that develops Web 3.0 technology, Apple is one of the opponents of the concept of "metaverse". In their opinion, this is not at all the concept that people should use when it comes to the virtual world.

The vision of the future and virtual worlds of the largest tech giant is different from the usual. Apple is already looking for cutting-edge professionals who will contribute to the development of virtual worlds and help the company create an augmented reality helmet (not to be confused with virtual reality). According to some assumptions, the first prototype of such a helmet may appear in the first quarter of next year. At the same time, Apple will probably be able to hold a thematic presentation with the presentation of their new invention, which, according to rumors, can cost the buyer $ 3,000.
