Valve Opens Major Offers in 2023

According to the authoritative portal HLTV, Valve is opening proposals for majors in 2023. The developers plan to decide on the organizers of both majors next year by the end of this month.

Valve has announced that it is starting to accept offers from tournament operators for next year's May and November Majors until June 21st. The developers also said that they have chosen June 28 as the date by which they plan to make a final decision.

The email is reportedly a continuation of a request from Valve to host the 2022-2023 Majors dated May 2021. Along with the dates, Valve included several updates such as links to an additional set of rules, RMR tournament requirements, and additional guidance for tournament operators.

In a recent email, Valve indicates that the tournament operator responsible for hosting the Major will be responsible for any regional qualifiers, including RMR tournaments and qualifiers, which must be completed at least two, but ideally three weeks before the championship itself..

As previously announced, Valve intends to host two majors in 2023, one in May (weeks 19 and 20) and one in November (weeks 44 and 45), following the schedule used in 2022. The rules for the Major will also be based on an additional set of rules that was released in February, but Valve notes that they are open to revision based on feedback.

The developer has added a number of additional points that should be taken into account when preparing offers from tournament operators.

Given the ongoing uncertainty regarding global travel restrictions, we will be prioritizing events that take place in regions where the tournament operator has previously hosted successful events. If possible, please provide a backup seat in case global travel restrictions make the priority venue unavailable.

As with previous majors, our main goal is to identify the event that will provide the most entertainment value for existing CS:GO fans, so please be specific when describing your event's services or features.

Please note that, in general, we do not attach much importance to any untested, new, or work-in-progress features. If you are proposing new features for your event, consider providing additional details explaining how those features will be developed and tested and what alternatives you will consider if they cannot be implemented as planned.

The vast majority of your event viewers will be watching the games on stream. Your proposal must include a distribution plan including expected platforms, available languages, schedule, and more.

The event must take place in a time zone that is convenient for a significant proportion of CS:GO fans (CS:GO has two prime times, one at 16:00 CET and one at 21:00 CET).

In order for us to properly evaluate your proposal, please provide a link to a video of events you have recently hosted that are of comparable quality to the event you are proposing.

For both Major and RMR tournaments, Valve will provide support for the prize pool, as well as player travel and accommodation.

The last major in CS:GO was PGL Major Antwerp 2022, the winner of which was FaZe Clan. In addition, ESL and Valve have already announced the holding of the autumn major - Intel Extreme Masters Season XVII - Rio Major 2022.
