Sentinels coach banned for a year and a half

ThePierceJ, who was the head coach of the Sentinels in League of Legends: Wild Rift, was banned for a year and a half. During his performance at the Icons Global Championship 2022, the American specialist made animal sounds, for which he was punished by the organizers and developers. At the same time, ThePierceJ announced his resignation as the coach of the North American team.

I am stepping down as the head coach of the Sentinels for Wild Rift with immediate effect. This was the result of one of my activities at the Icons Global Championship 2022. During the pre-match exit, I made several chants and animal sounds as part of our pre-game ritual. While it wasn't directed at Liberty players and staff, I offended them. I apologize to Liberty, Riot Games, the Sentinels and all my players. I have learned from this experience and will be more conscientious about my actions in the future. I have been banned from the Riot Esports ecosystem for the next 18 months, but I will continue to play my favorite game!

ThePierceJ has led the Sentinels since the team's formation last August. During this time, the American specialist helped the team win Fight Night Rift - Week 4, as well as get into the top three at Summoner Series '21 Major 3, North America Series 2022 Season 1: Major 1 and North America Series 2022 Season 1.

At the last Icons Global Championship 2022, the North American team took 17th-20th place, thus earning $10,000.

Note that this is not the first change in the team after the end of the championship. A little earlier, Beginnings and Rest left the team - the latter ended his career altogether.
