FunPlus Phoenix has a new VALORANT roster

Chinese esports organization FunPlus Phoenix has a new VALORANT roster. As a result, the club signed their academic roster, which had previously played under the name ZHUQUE.

We are very happy to inform you that the original ZHUQUE team has been officially renamed FunPlus Phoenix with a renewed focus on challenging the future. FunPlus Phoenix has been in VALORANT for a long time. At the beginning of 2020, the club created its division in Europe and assembled the ZHUQUE roster in Asia.

Last year we won VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers and VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen. However, ZHUQUE also had a great season, defeating strong rivals from the region and winning the FGC Valorant Invitational 2022: Epilogue.

Now that VALORANT is preparing to launch in China, ZHUQUE will continue to play under the FunPlus Phoenix tag and continue to play in the esports scene. Our path to VALORANT has never been easy, but now we're ready to embark on a new adventure!

The ZHUQUE team was formed in the summer of 2021. In a season and a half, the Chinese team became the winner of FGC Valorant Invitational 2022: Epilogue, and also made it to the top three at FGC Valorant Invitational 2022: Act 1, FGC Valorant Invitational 2022: Act 3 and Xyper Arena Weekly Showdown #3.

Recall that earlier the FunPlus Phoenix organization performed in Europe, where it contained one of the strongest lineups on the world stage. However, the club did not get into the affiliate program, which is why they sold the roster to NAVI. The decision to sign their youth roster is likely due to the recent decision of the Chinese authorities to approve the release of VALORANT. Thus, the country should have its own competitive scene with all the consequences.
