Rix.GG disbands female roster and leaves VALORANT
British esports organization Rix.GG has announced it is parting ways with its female VALORANT roster. However, the club decided to withdraw from participation in the discipline. The organization is also saying goodbye to Nicole Selvmos, who was the head of the esports department and manager of the Rix.GG Lightning team.
As the very first organization to sign a professional women's VALORANT team, we're very sad to see Lightning go. We would like to take this chance to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make Lightning a home they are proud of, from managers and coaches to the women themselves.
Last season, the European team made it to the TOP-3 at VCT 2022: Game Changers EMEA Series 2 and Contenders Legion: Athena Series. However, Rix.GG Lightning failed to qualify for the final VCT 2022: Game Changers Championship, thus ending the season ahead of schedule.
When I first joined Rix.GG back in March 2021, as their head of esports, I had no intention of returning to managing the team. From managing the first roster to this day, I have been privileged to watch these women develop into even more amazing people and players. I'm incredibly proud of every member of the Lightning I've ever led and they should all know that no matter what path they've taken, I'll always have their back - Nicole Selvmos
Recall that earlier the club also supported the male squad. However, at the beginning of the year, Rix.GG parted ways with the team, selling off their assets. Now the organization is officially exiting VALORANT, where they probably didn't see the economic rationale for continuing.
