Indian authorities will not allow PUBG Mobile to return to the market even after a change of publisher

Recently it was reported that PUBG Corp. want to publish the game on their behalf in India to avoid blocking. Previously, this was done by representatives of Tencent. The Indian government has carried out a massive blocking of mobile applications. 118 games and other applications were banned, including PUBG Mobile. The authorities cited the desire to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country as the reason for this act. According to them, the blocked applications were collecting data about users and their further sending outside India.

PUBG Corp. reported that they intend to return the game to India by changing the publisher. Previously, as it was said, the well-known Chinese company Tencent acted as the publisher, but now PUBG Corp. want to do it on their own. In addition, it was reported that PUBG Corp. wanted to cooperate with someone directly from India. According to some assumptions, the block of the game could also be caused by the conflict between China and India, and therefore changing the Chinese publisher to a publisher from India could solve the problem.

National security was not the only reason to block the game, according to a government insider from Reuters. PUBG has received many complaints from players' parents asking them to block this "violent nature" project. Such things are not corrected by changing the publisher.

In May 2020, the border conflict between India and China escalated. Countries put forward their rights to Aksaychin, a territory that is located on the border between the parties to the conflict. According to users and journalists, the exclusion of 118 apps from India is related to this event.
