The Spider-Man 2 trailer showcases gameplay in an expanded version of New York City

In the Spider-Man 2 story, Insomniac's Chief Creative Officer, Brian Intihar, showcased a video in which new locations available to players in this sequel were revealed, along with new ways to traverse New York City.

"I'm here to give you a first look at the evolution of the open-world experience and how the game maximizes the capabilities of the PlayStation 5," he said.

"The first thing you'll notice is the expansion of our city by almost double through the addition of two iconic districts of New York: Queens and Brooklyn.

"We've also introduced a new mechanic - web-wings, an entirely new gameplay element that, in combination with the ability to swing on webs, allows you to move through the city in an entirely new way and at much greater speeds than ever before."

The Crystal Palace, which was in the 2018 Spider-Man game but absent in the 2020 Miles Morales spin-off, is also absent in the sequel because Insomniac couldn't reach an agreement on the copyright with the new owners of the building.

Additionally, Sony has released another Spider-Man 2 trailer, which you can see below, showcasing the content of the Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99/ £79.99/ €89.99).

It includes the base game, all pre-order bonuses, as well as 10 unique costumes (five for each hero), additional frames and stickers for the photo mode, and two extra skill points.

Sony also introduced a special PS5 Spider-Man 2 bundle with covers and a DualSense controller earlier this month.

The release date for Spider-Man 2 is October 20, 2023.
