Sega has finally achieved this goal: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth has become a true life simulator

The Yakuza game series has always been a unique simulator for the "ojisan" (middle-aged) crowd, but now Sega has taken this idea to a new level with the introduction of the Dondoko Island feature in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Revealed during the Xbox Partner Preview live stream, this new addition essentially serves as a full-fledged life simulator within the game. In a way, it's your very own Yakuza Animal Crossing.

Here, you'll be able to build houses, create settlements, engage in crafting, make friends, and experience almost everything you'd expect from similar games (with the possible exception of farming aspects, which haven't been showcased yet, but are likely to be incorporated in some form).

You might think that such extensive gameplay content would warrant its own standalone game, but no. The Yakuza series has always included roughly as much gameplay content as five separate games within each of its parts, so it's not surprising that all of this is included in one package.

In terms of the storyline, Dondoko Island is a deserted island filled with illegally dumped trash, but Ichiban Kasuga has always had a knack for finding value where others see only garbage. So, he's set on rolling up his sleeves, cleaning up the mess, and repurposing it to create furniture, decorations, and much more.

The release date for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is set for January 26, 2024, and it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Recently, we also learned about the role that the popular Vtuber Kson will play, and there's another extensive gameplay trailer to watch.

Before the release of Infinite Wealth, we'll also get Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, coming on November 9, 2023, on the same platforms. It will also feature a demonstration of Infinite Wealth.
