Explosive Stunt in Battlefield 2042: Player's 'CAV-JAVELIN' Move Raises Questions About Game Scoring
A Battlefield 2042 player recently made a daring move by deploying their CAV-Brawler to take on an enemy tank, resulting in an explosion that, unfortunately, didn't tally any kills. This event unfolded on the Breakaway map, one of the settings in Battlefield 2042, where the player engaged the enemy amidst intense gunfire. The incident generated numerous comments as players debated whether the game should have recognized the kill on the scoreboard.
Even though Battlefield 2042 is the latest addition to the Battlefield franchise, players have always found innovative tactics for combat, dating back to the days of Battlefield 1942. Developer DICE has harnessed the power of its Refractor and Frostbite engines to create dynamic, destructible environments, encouraging players to experiment in various ways. Notably, the Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer featured the Rendezook jet kill, a famous maneuver pulled off by a Battlefield player in the past. These spectacular feats continue in the present, with a Battlefield 2042 player devising a unique strategy to eliminate opponents in the game.

During a match on the Breakaway map, a player controlling a CAV-Brawler, introduced in Season 4 for Battlefield 2042, drove the vehicle off a ledge and onto an enemy tank below. This incident was captured in a video shared on Reddit by the player, who goes by the name WanderingWhite. In the brief ten-second clip, the CAV-Brawler decimates the enemy tank, yet no kills are registered for the player's team. Interestingly, WanderingWhite, also known as MrMarauder in the clip, activates one of the CAV-Brawler's features upon contact with the enemy, though it doesn't trigger an explosion but instead leads to the enemy tank's destruction. As a result, the player humorously dubbed this action the "CAV-JAVELIN" in the video's caption.
While Battlefield 2042 players often employ various tactics to secure kills, it's evident that WanderingWhite's move should have earned them some points. A comment pointed out, "You didn't get credit for the kill," prompting a response stating, "It's a problem. They should fix it." WanderingWhite expressed their frustration with a simple "Robbed!" Other players commented on the explosion aspect, with one remarking, "I remember when vehicles would not damage each other on impact. I'm glad they fixed it."
While this incident may prompt DICE to investigate and potentially address the issue, it serves as another example of Battlefield 2042 players using the game's mechanics to achieve unconventional kills. This clip showcases the creativity of players, whether intentional or not. With update 6.1.0 bringing fixes and the Dark Protocol event to Battlefield 2042, players have even more opportunities to discover ingenious methods for eliminating their adversaries.
