The North American esports organization Complexity Gaming was acquired by GameSquare Esports, the parent company of Code Red Esports esports agency.

The acquisition will cost $ 27 million as part of a deal with various shares. As a result, the current group of owners of Complexity will become the "main shareholders" of GameSquare Esports. Jason Lake, founder and CEO of Complexity Gaming, has also been named Global Head of Esports for GameSquare.

According to the press release, GameSquare will use its public company position to nudge Complexity into the "next phase" of growth. This includes gaining support from GameSquare's global network and services to diversify its offerings, scale business operations and expand into new verticals.

The North American organization will continue to operate from its headquarters in Frisco, Texas. All Complexity esports teams that span multiple disciplines will also continue to compete under the same banner.

In addition to being the parent company of Code Red Esports and the Gaming Community Network, GameSquare is also the minority owner of the League of Legends team, Rainbow7, and the Crossfire LGD.REC franchise.
