The Liverpool FC defender becomes Tundra Esports' second ambassador, joining British grime rapper P Money, who partnered with the organization to create a music video to coincide with Van Dijk's appointment as ambassador.
Van Dijk, new ambassador and shareholder of Tundra Esports: "I'm thrilled to be joining Tundra Esports. Tundra Esports is one of the fastest growing esports organizations in the world and is heading in a very interesting direction. It was great to be able to partner with P Money and the idea OUTPLAYED further underlined why I wanted to be involved in the development of the team. They have built an amazing reputation when it comes to player wellbeing within a winning culture and that's something that really resonates with me. I'm looking forward to the future."
In his new role, Van Dijk will seek to "become even more integrated into the gaming community" in addition to supporting and growing the business goals of the esports club.
Van Dijk becomes the latest footballer to enter the gaming and esports industry. He joins the likes of Dele Alli, who became a Global Ambassador for EXCEL ESPORTS in November 2020. In addition, Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are ambassadors for the British esports organization SMPR.
The Tundra Esports organization currently features Fortnite, FIFA and Dota 2 rosters in addition to a roster of six content creators.
