AGF Esport is leaving esports
The Danish esports organization AGF Esport, which is part of the Aarhus football club, is finally leaving esports. Currently, all social networks and references to the club have been removed, while the official website of the organization has stopped working. Note that even earlier the club left the CS:GO discipline, citing the lack of an economically sustainable future.
After four good seasons, we have to report that the development of our esports direction has not brought the fruits we expected, and therefore does not have sufficient commercial interest. AGF Esport has always been financially sound, but now we can see a future that looks economically uncertain, and there is no indication that anything will change for the better. Therefore, we are preparing to exit the game.
Here's how the community reacted to the news.
AGF Esport left esports and quickly deleted all of their social media and all history. I hate organizations that do this, it's for the weak. You erase all the achievements of the club and thousands of hours of work of graphic designers and SMM. One would think that for a football club that is almost 150 years old, they should understand the value of history, but esports is always a one-time and flirtatious investment for such people.
Recall that AGF Esport was formed at the beginning of 2018. At the same time, the organization was known to the general public thanks to its CS:GO division. The best achievement of the club is the victory at Dust2.dk Ligaen Season 14, as well as getting into the top three at LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 and DreamHack Open November 2020.
At the beginning of 2022, the Danish esports organization made a change of course, focusing on the development of young players.
