Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, has warned fans about the emergence of a fraudulent cryptocurrency called Fortnite Token, which has nothing to do with the well-known brainchild of the company. According to him, Epic Games is already preparing documents for legal proceedings.

There is no Fortnite cryptocurrency. Twitter accounts promoting this kind of stuff are scams. Epic Games lawyers are already looking into this matter. Shame on the cryptocurrency exchanges that host such tokens.
While Sweeney is clearly opposed to other companies using the Fortnite brand to promote the cryptocurrency, he has mentioned that he sees potential for the currency and its technology if used properly.
When new technologies appear, some put them to good use, while others put them to bad use. It would be terribly shortsighted to ban an entire field of technology for such a reason.
The CEO of Epic Games has reportedly responded several times to the Fortnite Token account, which appears to have been banned altogether, calling it fraudulent, linking its purpose of existence to making money on the Fortnite brand.
It's not as simple as trademarks and copyrights work. You may not use the Fortnite name and images without permission to sell any unrelated product.
In turn, the creators of Fortnite Token responded to the accusations from Sweeney. They assured fans of the transparency and benevolence of the project, stating that it is run by the entire community of the game as a whole, and not by a specific owner.
