Splitgate - a new word in eSports
Greetings to all who are interested in "What is this Splitgate?". There has been quite a bit of buzz around the game lately, and the rare and outdated YouTube reviews of 1047 Games' brainchild don't answer all the questions?
Then please read on! Egamersworld and I figured out what Splitgate is and now I will try to briefly answer the most common questions.
Безкоштовні дорогоцінні камені, а також щоденні, щотижневі та щомісячні бонуси!
What is the essence of the game?
Splitgate is a classic Arena Shooter, that is: a closed card, two teams, a lot of guns and action. The closest in genre to the game will be Quake, Halo and, oddly enough, Portal. Little recoil, lots of movement and more vertical maps than the Call of Duty series.
But the main feature of the game is that each player has portals! Yes, yes, it is a free arrangement of two portals that connect to each other, as if you had a portalgun from the Portal series of games from Valve. You can safely pass through them, look, shoot - whatever your heart desires. The only limitation is that portals can be placed on special surfaces, but there are always enough of them on the map.
The game came out back in 2019 from 1047 Games and has since drifted into a plethora of unpopular releases. However, in 2021, she received her share of hype and began to catch the eye a little more often. To this day it is in beta.
What are the gameplay features?
Splitgate has combined two huge mechanics in the form of an action arena and portals, which makes the game a kind of "mutant", but that's why it becomes fresh and interesting.
Hearing this, many will most likely think that a 200 hertz monitor and the reactions of a professional player from FPS shooters are definitely needed here. But it turns out it's not so obvious.
In most game situations, success is influenced not so much by shooting as by spatial perception and the ability to correctly and quickly move around the map. Find a rapid-fire weapon and burst right into the back of a crowd of enemies? Yes, no question!
Isn't that your style of play too? There is also a place for more measured players. Surprisingly, many players in Splitgate like to arm themselves with sniper rifles, spread the most tricky portals: one in a secluded place, and the second somewhere at a height with a good view, and take out opponents one at a time. But even so, you may get a queue in response if the active portal is noticed. For fans of this, there is even a mode where everyone's heads are enlarged several times, so that it is easier to put headshots.
But what is a game without cons?
I try to make the review as honest as possible, and therefore I will be extremely strict in criticism.
Although the game looks like a lot of fun, at first glance, if you seriously focus on the game and work "to win", then very soon even experienced gamers will start to have a headache.
The core mechanic with portals creates a lot of problems with spatial perception at critical moments. If you know in advance how and where you will use the portals, then everything is in order. But with the high dynamics of the game, you often have to make a series of jumps in space, after which you can easily get lost on relatively monotonous and symmetrical maps. And if the card is of a closed type, then the effect will increase several times.
Online in the game is quite poor. Although there is cross-platform, judging only by Steam, since the rise of the game, online has been steadily falling and does not rise above the bar of 2 thousand players. However, matches are found quickly if it is not a ranked queue.
Customization in the game is also present. But inferior to almost every game that I can remember. Basically, the player receives new items from the battle pass, which looks as chaotic as possible and does not follow any style. And the skin for the character himself is always solid and does not allow changing individual parts of the costume.
What about esports?
As I wrote just above, the game has some difficulties with the selection of players in the ranked queue. But even so, Prime Gaming from Amazon noticed the potential in the game, which objectively exists.
On our website you could read about the tournament that starts today - Splitgate Pro Series 2022 - Summer: Regular Season.
In my opinion, this is a good attempt by Amazon to give the game a second wind and attract new players, along with viewers. After all, watching a similar genre of game is much easier than playing it. The more spectacular game moments will look better from the outside.
Such well-known teams as T1, XSET, Luminosity and others have already been involved in the tournament, which has already begun.
Perhaps this is another attempt by Prime Gaming to create a big buzz around the game, as they did with New World. After all, from a media point of view, they are great at creating interest in their products. But how things will turn out in practice remains to be seen!
