Asian Games 2022 postponed indefinitely
The 2022 Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou, which were scheduled to take place in September, have been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a reminder, the 19th Asian Games should be a monumental event for esports as the industry debuts as an official medal sport.
Last September it was announced that League of Legends, Hearthstone, Dota 2, Street Fighter V, Arena of Valor, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, FIFA and PUBG Mobile were selected as the event's official medal disciplines.

Lokesh Suji, Director of the Indian Esports Federation and Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF): "The well-being of athletes is a top priority and this news was expected as news of the novel coronavirus outbreak in China emerged. While the wait is getting longer, the excitement remains former".
New dates for the Asian Games will be agreed by the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Organizing Committee of the Asian Games in Hangzhou and the Olympic Council of Asia at a later date. The Summer Asian Games were to be held from 10 to 25 September.
The Olympic Council of Asia has confirmed that the name and emblem of the 19th Asian Games will remain unchanged. It is likely that the competition will follow the same fate as the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which took place a year later.
