WePlay Esports suspends support for Russian-language projects
Tournament operator WePlay Esports announced the suspension of support for Russian-language projects. The company will reportedly focus on the production and development of esports content in Ukrainian. In addition, WePlay Esports will continue to host esports tournaments and launch analytical studios in English.
Due to the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against the freedom and independence of Ukraine, WePlay Esports has decided to freeze its current Russian-language projects. The team currently finds it unacceptable to continue creating new opportunities for Russian esports.
Instead, WePlay Esports will focus on Ukrainian-language esports projects. Previously, the company has already worked on creating broadcasts and tournaments for the Ukrainian-speaking audience. WePlay AniMajor broadcast in Ukrainian, technical partnership during the finals of the Ukrainian Dota 2 and CS:GO Championship last year, esports tournaments on the WePlay Compete tournament platform are just a few examples of what has already been done.

Russian is the language of communication and content consumption for many people around the world, just like English is popular in Europe, the United States of America, Asia, and so on. For a company originally from Ukraine, whose employees are now experiencing the pain of a war not started by us, our business will primarily be focused on supporting an independent, unique Ukrainian culture.
Recall that earlier WePlay Esports transferred the staff of the tournament coverage studio to a remote work format. In addition, the company refused to cooperate with all partners from Russia.
