Newbee will not visit Galaxy Battles II

The organization Newbee made a decision to refuse from the participation in Galaxy Battles II due to the tournament’s loss of a “Major” status. Let’s remind that previously Virtus.Pro, Team Liquid, Team Secret and OpTic Gaming decided to miss the competition. Despite the great number of refusals, organizers are still going to host the competition and Team Kinguin has announced that they would like to go as a replacement.

The tournament will take place at Philippine Arena on January 15-21 this year. The championship has lost a “Major” status because the government of the Philippines had planned to make doping tests of players and Valve has not wanted to reveal private information about players. Now, a prize pool of the competition will amount $500,000 and DPC points will not be up for grabs. It is unknown who will replace the rest of teams.
