ESIC takes over the investigation of the HUNDEN case

On the integrity of the Commission eSports made statements regarding the ongoing investigations. In particular, ESIC has taken up the investigation into the HUNDEN case, pledging to issue a statement on the results of the investigation on Wednesday 25 August. In addition, the Commission announced the creation of an Investigative Transparency Initiative, which aims to provide a "reliable and proportionate level of understanding" of ESIC's activities in relation to ongoing investigations.

ESIC is currently investigating allegations that the former Heroic coach shared confidential information related to the team strategy folder with a competitor who beat the team at IEM Cologne 2021. Following the investigation, the Commission will publish its own statement, both in the public interest and avoidance of speculation.

The transparency initiative itself will have four phases, the first of which is a register of open investigations.

ESIC said it is currently investigating four cases. One concerns possible betting scams by Project X CEO Alexander Shishko in matches played by his team and Akuma. Following the investigation, the Commission recommended that tournament operators not accept applications from the Akuma team due to suspicions of corruption.

An investigation into the "coaching bug", meanwhile, is still pending due to the "appeal results" after the first report, as well as the difficulty in defining a "fair, proportionate and consistent approach to sanctions."

In subsequent phases of the initiative, a "Public Sanctions Register" will be created that will record all sanctions imposed by ESIC, including the duration, type of sanction, press release link and status, and a "Public Appeals Register" that will reflect any appeals received.
