Eternal Fire Drops Players for Cheating in CS2: A Stand for Fair Play

Ця стаття доступна наступними мовами

Eternal Fire has officially severed ties with Ahmet "cyber" Akpınar and Bilgihan "Depact" Ayaz, former members of its academy team, following their receipt of two-year bans from FACEIT on Monday for exploiting a bug in Counter-Strike 2.

The young players, aged 23 and 21, were found to have taken advantage of a bug that was recently exposed to the public. This bug allowed players to activate cheat-protected commands on public servers via the console, giving them the ability to alter what they could see in-game. This included making wireframes visible and rendering textures transparent, which could be used to spot opponents through walls, significantly compromising fair play.

The exploit came to light on Sunday, and FACEIT promptly responded by acknowledging the issue on their Community Support X account. They began investigating whether the bug could be fixed on their end and warned that they would take "appropriate actions" against those who were found abusing it.

FACEIT's community manager, known as FACEIT_Darwin, later revealed that the anti-cheat team had identified individuals who had utilized the exploit on their platform, leading to the immediate distribution of bans. According to FACEIT's Banning Policy, such severe misuse of in-game bugs is classified as cheating and carries a two-year ban from participating on the platform.

Eternal Fire responded to the situation by announcing on X that cyber and Depact had been banned for using the exploit in a FACEIT match, labeling their actions as unprofessional. The organization emphasized its commitment to integrity within the game by stating, "We have cut ties and terminated our contracts with the players, who we are sure are staying away from any situation that will affect the game negatively, such as cheating." This decision underscores Eternal Fire's dedication to upholding the highest standards of conduct and fair play in competitive gaming.
