CS2 Launch Plagued by Bugs: From Broken Hit-Boxes to Floating Characters

Less than a month has passed since the global launch of CS2, and players have been bombarded with a slew of bugs and problems in the game. Despite the excitement generated by Valve's teasers and the anticipation of a sequel to the beloved Counter-Strike franchise, many players expressed disappointment in the game, mainly due to its seemingly unfinished state. This letdown has disheartened numerous long-time fans who were eagerly awaiting a sequel to their favorite game, placing Valve at a disadvantage in the highly competitive FPS gaming landscape. Despite Valve's swift deployment of patches to address these issues, new bugs keep cropping up, ranging from broken hit-boxes to bizarre "Michael Jackson" peeks, leaving players frustrated.

The most recent addition to the growing list of bugs in the game is the awkward crouching pose of player characters, which contorts their bodies and legs in bizarre ways, making it appear as if they have no legs and are floating in mid-air.

This newfound bug is particularly concerning since CS:GO esports are transitioning to CS2 during the IEM Sydney, and such issues don't bode well for the game's future.

Origin of the CS2 Bug

The CS2 bug initially came to light when a user posted a video on Twitter. In the clip, they demonstrated that if a player crouches while boosted to the end of a hitbox on a railing, their character ends up floating in the air, even when the player below moves away. In this position, the character's legs are grotesquely contorted, and they remain suspended in mid-air.

How Does the Bug Work?

Despite the legs technically functioning, the character model appears severely distorted and broken, with varying results each time. Some characters have both legs raised high above the air, while others have one leg on the railing and the other hanging in the air.

Effects of the Bug

This bug has been humorously dubbed the "Human Turret" or the "Drone Peek." Following in the footsteps of previous comical bugs like the "Michael Jackson peek" and the "Shakira shake," this bug doesn't have a significant impact on gameplay but is undeniably amusing to witness. Players have taken advantage of it as a means to distract opponents who are peeking and engaging in gunfights.

Valve's Response

While Valve has not issued any official statements regarding this bug, a fix is anticipated in the near future. Given that this bug does not create major disruptions in the game, it might take some time for a patch to be released. Nonetheless, players are likely to make the most of it while it lasts.
