LowLandLions will leave CS:GO at the end of the year

Belgian esports organization LowLandLions has announced its retirement from CS:GO and esports in general at the end of this year. Recall that the club was one of the most titled in the Benelux, having existed for almost 15 years.

After a fifteen year adventure, LowLandLions and I have decided that in 2022 we will close our doors. The bar and expectations among us fans and partners are (rightfully) high. Only we feel that at the end of the road, the effort, time and cost involved in running an esports team is no longer worth it for us. Therefore, we do not want to enter into a season when we have - especially in terms of budget - not everything is in order.

Our ultimate goal of becoming the first professional esports organization in the Benelux with regular players and staff has remained a distant dream. But we can't blame ourselves: we tried. We are also convinced that the LowLandLions product is the best in the Benelux. Therefore, in order to enter the upcoming seasons with positivity and ambition, we have been negotiating for a long time with partners, sponsors, investors, consultants, trusted persons, but, unfortunately, there was no solution that would give LowLandLions a stable future in the long term. Hence this, for some, no doubt radical solution.

We would like to sincerely thank the players, streamers, partners and staff of LowLandLions for the years of success we have been able to experience with each other. In the 15 years of its existence, LowLandLions has become the most titled esports organization in the Benelux, and this is in the most important esports disciplines, and we have achieved this together. The Organization will properly fulfill its obligations to all parties, as we have always done. By the end of this year, our last contract expires and commitments expire.

As a final and important point, we would like to thank the fans who have supported us throughout all these years.

LowLandLions was founded in 2007. For almost 15 years, the club has created rosters in several disciplines, but the main focus was on CS 1.6, and after that CS:GO.
