dev1ce's career started in 2011 with Counter-Strike: Source. Nikolai's first team on the way to becoming one of the best caesers in the world was the Danish club Copenhagen Wolves.

While playing for Copenhagen Wolves, Nikolai met cajunb, another famous Danish player. From the results in the Source period - TOP-8 at Copenhagen Games 2011: Source and EMS: Season VIII - Finals and victory at BLAST 2012, in May 2012.

With the release of CSGO, the Copenhagen Wolves moved into a new discipline, and device remained a regular player until December 2013.

Already in CSGO, as part of the same CW, Nikolai won GDK Season 6 and The Blast 2013. Over time, Copenhagen Wolves began to perform on the international arena, playing against the strongest teams at that time. The team participated in ESL Major Series One - Summer 2013, DreamHack Summer 2013, ESL Major Series One and ESEA Invite Season 14.

At all the above mentioned tournaments device's results could hardly be called outstanding. However, the last device tournament as part of the Copenhagen Wolves was the DreamHack Winter 2013 major. The Dane took TOP-8 at it.

After showing up at the 2013 winter dreamhack, device moved to Dignitas, Nikolai's first major international club. In the same place, device was waiting for new heights.

Dignitas Sample Device

Moving to Dignitas, device got to know the Dane's future teammates in the Dane's career, namely Xyp9x and dupreeh. As a member of Dignitas, Nikolay became a regular guest at major level tournaments.

In 2014 alone, Nikolai, with his teammates from the American club, played at 3 majors: ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014, ESL One: Cologne 2014 and DreamHack Winter 2014. At the first two, Dignitas entered the TOP-4, which became a major performance and the first spurt on the road to grand victories in the future.

In addition to majors, dev1ce won several local tournaments with Dignitas, including Fragbite Masters Season 2, Gfinity Pro League Season 1.

In January 2015 device leaves Dignitas and Team SoloMid becomes its new home.

Dev1ce, Team SoloMid and QuestionMark

Having played for Dignitas and having only strengthened in the status of a potential star, dev1ce, together with his old teammates, joins Team SoloMid. In the American organization, Nikolai continues to play on the European stage and finally establishes himself as a TOP sniper, reaching the same level with the stars of that time in the face of GuardiaN, JW and others.

With TSM, dev1ce wins the first S-tier tournaments in his career: PGL CS:GO: Championship Series Kick-off Season, FACEIT League 2015 Stage I Finals, Fragbite Masters Season 4, PGL CS:GO Championship Series Season 1: Finals and others. Naturally, there were smaller championships, but for the then-status dev1ce, this was not an indicator. Another thing is Major.

With Team SoloMid dev1ce played at ESL One; Cologne 2014 and DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015. At the first dev1ce repeated his best result of the Dignitas period - TOP-3-4. Things went worse in Romania: TSM finished in 5th-8th place.

In December 2015, dev1ce and his teammates left the camp of the American organization and became known as Team Question Mark. During this period, the team was noted for its performance at Fragbite Masters Season 5, where it took 4th place, ESL ESEA Pro League Season 2 - Finals, where it finished in TOP-4, StarLadder i-League StarSeries XIV and TOP-5-6 there, and also a victory at the local Red Dot Invitational.

In the camp of Question Mark, and in fact without organization, dev1ce was not for long. Already by January 2016, Nikolay and his teammates find investors to create the Astralis project, which in the future will become the leading club in the CSGO world.

dev1ce in Astralis and the era of the Danish five

The debut roster of Astralis included dupreeh, Xyp9x, dev1ce, cajunb, karrigan. Astralis played in this roster until May 2016, after which cajunb left the team, and Kjaerbye took his place.

The replacement took place after MLG Major Championship: Columbus. There, Astralis took the TOP-4, which became a kind of dead center for dev1ce. However, the spot replacement did not bring the desired results.

Having changed one rifler, Astralis performed at ESL One Cologne 2016, where they finished in the TOP-8. After an unsatisfactory performance, dev1ce and the company replaced kerrigan with glaive.

With the transition to glaive, Astralis took second place at ELEAGUE Season 2, losing in the final to OpTiC Gaming, after which they took revenge on their offenders as part of the Esports Championship Series Season 2 - Finals. The tournament was the first S-class championship won for the Astralis tag.

At the beginning of 2016, dev1ce closes the gestalt. The team outplayed Virtus.pro 2-1 in the final of ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017.

The championship at the Major in Atlanta was the first in the career of dev1ce and the history of Astralis. The first, but not the last.

In 2017, Astralis played at PGL Major Krakow 2017, where they took the TOP-4 and at a number of smaller events. The second most important title was the Intel Extreme Masters XI - World Championship.

A real sensation awaited Astralis in 2018. Then the era of Astralis came, but he transferred to this the transition to the “stars” of Magisk and zonic to the position of a coach.

During the year, the team won 11 top quality tournaments: DreamHack Masters Marselle 2018, ESL Pro League Season 7 - Finals, Esports Championship Series Season 5 - Finals, ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2018, BLAST Pro Series: Istanbul 2018 and others.

The main advantage was the championship at FACEIT Major: London 2018. Having raised the cup after defeating NAVI in the final, dev1ce became a two-time world champion.

In 2019, Astralis achieved an even more significant result. The team won two majors in a year: Intel Extreme Masters XIII - Katowice Major 2019 and StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.

dev1ce as part of Astralis became the fourth player in the history of CSGO to win the 4th major tournament. Nikolai shared his historical status with his teammates: dupreeh, Xyp9x and glaive.

Reedtz continued to play for Astralis until April 2021, but the Dane could not repeat the landmark achievements of the 2018-2019 period. On May 30, 2021, Astralis moved to NiP.

Star Sniper Epic - dev1ce's road to NiP and back

The deal to move dev1ce to NiP became one of the most expensive in the history of CSGO. The exact amount of the transfer is not called, but many sources point to a price tag of $1 million.

However, the high cost of the player did not guarantee his success. dev1ce stayed at the position of NiP player for a little over half a year, and the best result of playing for NiP was the victory at Intel Extreme Masters XIV - Fall: Europe and 2nd place at Flashpoint Season 3.

In December 2021, the player went to the bench, from where he returned to Astralis on October 27, 2022.

dev1ce personal awards

Having been on the competitive CSGO scene since 2011, dev1ce has managed to inscribe his name in the Counter-Strike pantheon of glory, but also earn a lot of more material rewards. In addition to the record of 4 majors won, dev1ce:

  • Record holder for the number of MVP medals for majors (2).
  • Record holder for getting into the TOP-20 best players of the year according to HLTV (6 times).
  • Record holder for getting into the TOP-5 of the best players of the year according to HLTV (5 times).

  • Second most HLTV MVP (19 awards).
  • Second most HLTV MVP in 1 year (7 awards).

In addition to the above, dev1ce, together with his teammates, holds the record for the longest co-op game. The trio played together under different tags for 7 years and 239 days.

How much did dev1ce earn from prize money

Over a long esports career, dev1ce has become one of the richest esports players and esportsmen in the world. As of December 9, 2022, Nikolai is in the TOP-50 richest esportsmen in history: he earned over $1,949,450 from prizes alone.
